Most of us in B.C. have enjoyed the recent temperature anomaly in southern B.C. (not sure about the orchardists). Agencies are predicting an early, dry spring for B.C., including this recent report from the Weather Network (see this updated link).
Our snow packs are well below normal for this time of year.
The Washington State Dept. of Ecology is concerned about potential low Similkameen flows, and this may affect how Osoyoos Lake is managed (the lake is held one foot higher during summer months if a drought is declared for Osoyoos Lake – this will be determined sometime in April)
Drought monitor for Washington State (most recent regional prediction available): As of March 19, Okanogan County is in a Moderate Drought condition. This is the southern half of the Canada/U.S. Okanagan/Similkameen Basin.
