A new full-colour educational poster depicting the cycles of water in the Okanagan Valley is now available free through various organizations.
In Kelowna, it’s available from the bookstore at UBCO, from Kelowna city hall’s environment division and the EECO in Mission Creek Regional Park.
Kelowna’s Science Opportunities for Kids Society is developing a companion teacher’s guide for the Waterscape poster.
The poster was published by Environment Canada and Natural Resources Canada in collaboration with Okanagan water experts and scientists from around the country.
It features photos, three-dimensional images and a glossy topographical map depicting a wide range of water topics in the Okanagan Basin area.
That includes water flows, how we use and share water, future threats to it, and ideas for water conservation.
The poster will be officially unveiled Jan. 23 at a scientific groundwater symposium in Penticton, but it’s already available through different organizations.
The teacher’s guide will encourage teachers to teach youngsters about different aspects of water, using a regional focus.
