To the editor:
Views of a thirsty tourist passing through your city.
There is no shortage of “Panic water shortage talk” in the local newspapers, but it doesn’t seem to be making its mark on the locals.
I sat with a table of locals for coffee one morning and asked them about the water problem that was reported in the newspaper, and one of them said to me: “They say that lake’s a 1,000 feet deep in places, nothing to worry about!”
Yes, this could be just one local point of view, but between the bottled water addiction and wasteful watering practices I witnessed going on, I think the message is missing the target.
