April 12 – Water Supply Webinar

This year’s seventh annual Okanagan water supply webinar will be hosted on Friday, April 12th from 11a.m. – 12 p.m. This webinar provides an opportunity to hear from reliable government and agency sources about the current and forecast water conditions in the Okanagan.

The goal of this webinar is to provide an update from multiple perspectives on water supply, and now forest fire conditions, to support planning for the upcoming summer.

The Okanagan water supply is influenced by two major systems. As a snow dominated region, the annual snow accumulation provides a reservoir of water that melts in early summer providing significant water to the system. The ‘rainy season’ or ‘Okanagan monsoon’ occurs in the Okanagan in May/June. Because we can’t predict spring rains, water management in the Okanagan is enhanced by timely information about pre-conditions (i.e. water saturation), current snow pack and weather forecasts of spring precipitation.
