Project Description:
The aim of this project is to demonstrate resilient landscapes that can withstand and thrive in drought conditions. This will be achieved by renovating and enhancing sections of the 23 year old Xeriscape Demonstration Gardens (2 acres) the first and largest in Canada.
The environmental education component involves ten seminars/workshops and fifteen garden demonstration tours covering topics such as: soil health for water reduction, xeriscape design and installation, xeriscape hands-on maintenance workshops, hands on in-line drip irrigation installation, rain gardens and storm water management, the selection and correct planting of native and drought tolerant plants.
