Impact of Onsite Wastewater Systems on the Naramata Shoreline
Project Year:
2020
Project Budget:$35,000
WCQI Grant:$25,000
Organization:Regional District of Okanagan Similkameen
Project Description:
The main project goal is to gain empirical data on land-use and how it impacts lake foreshore waters (near-surface groundwater) in the community of Naramata. The analysis of the impacts to the shoreline from the onsite septic systems, will be used to help provide rationale and analysis for options identified during the Liquid Waste Management Plan (LWMP) project for the Naramata community. The data will also assess the severity of impact to fish spawning areas located in the vicinity of the shoreline. By identifying areas that have a higher impact on water quality, these can become a focus for priority planning of municipal wastewater infrastructure in the community through the LWMP process.
