WCQI Grant:$24,000
Organization:City of Kelowna
Project Description:
This project will create a naturally landscaped xeriphytic garden that is part of a public interpretive plaza in a high traffic location in Kelowna’s Cultural Dictrict. An accessible public landscape that inspires locals and tourists to appreciate and utilize native, xeriphytic plant material in landscaping, and to foster greater awareness that the Okanagan is a naturally arid region, where water must be stewarded with care. Additionally, to educate residents and tourists that the sylix/Okanagan people thrived on native plants, and that these plants also support native pollinators.
