Low Flow Toilet Rebate Program – South Okanagan (2 Grants)
Project Year:
2006
Project Budget:$33,090
WCQI Grant:$31,000
Organization:Regional District of Okanagan Similkameen
Project Description:
OBWB grants from 2006 to 2007 were used to develop toilet rebate programs for RDOS rural residents within the basin. In total 124 rebates were issued over that period. To obtain a rebate, home or business owners required a receipt for disposal of old toilets. All landfills in the southern Okanagan took toilets free of charge for recycling. The toilets were ground up and used as road base. The home or business owner also needed a receipt for the installation or purchase of 6Lflush or dual flush toilet. This rebate program also helped inform people that Building regulations in the RDOS require that any new toilets must be 6L flush or dual flush toilets.
