Preliminary Hydrogeological Assessment of Joe Rich
Project Year:
2008
Project Budget:$5,000
WCQI Grant:$2,500
Organization:Regional District of Central Okanagan
Project Description:
This project conducted a preliminary investigation into groundwater aquifers in the Joe Rich area to determine locations where further detailed investigation was warranted. Due to increasing development and subdivision pressures on the area, it was necessary to determine the availability of resources to meet the increasing demand for water. The report's purpose was to assist in the understanding of the current state of groundwater resources in the study area. A number of conclusion and recommendations are made in the report, including a general statement that "current groundwater extraction in the Joe Rich West area is very close to, or has exceeded, the sustainable capacity of the aquifers in the area." More detailed studies were recommended prior to additional groundwater development in the area. The full report on this project can be found here: Joe_Rich_groundwater_potential.pdf
