Water Utility Monitoring System Project
Project Year:
2009
Project Budget:$88,149
WCQI Grant:$12,000
Organization:Eagle Rock, Grandview, Larkin and Otter Lake Waterworks Districts
Project Description:
The four waterworks districts from the North Okanagan purchased and installed more efficient and consistent meter reading technology that enabled district staff to read meters with greater ease. The equipment consists of radio read technology, replacing the old manual and electrical read systems. Through this program, leak detection became more efficient and missed meter reading (due to weather or other limitations) was eliminated. Through collaboration, the four districts were able to share the equipment and the purchase costs. The project also identified a number of older inaccurate meters that were replaced. This project saved water, time and money for the districts.
