According to the B.C. River Forecast Centre, by March 15, on average, nearly 90% of the total seasonal snowpack has accumulated. The April 1st 2021 Snow & Water Supply Bulletin will be issued on April 9th. The April snow bulletin is considered the benchmark to compare with other years.
As you can see in the charts below, the snow-water has been consistently above average this year.
While we are still officially in La Nina conditions, we haven’t experienced the extreme precipitation that usually accompanies this trend in the Pacific Ocean.
Climate agencies are still reporting that there is a 60% chance of a transition from La Nina to a neutral condition this spring.
